What sort of things do you love to read?
What sort of things do you love having read to you?
Even grown-ups like having story time. I suppose that's why
audiobooks are becoming increasingly popular; they connect with that ancient memory in our DNA of ancestors gathered around a fire, exchanging tales of monsters and witchcraft.
I love reading stories. I love being transported to another
world a world where I do not have to think about what is going to happen, no decisions to make, no obligations to fulfil. All that is required, is to sit
back and be entertained by the magical words.
I love writing stories too, stories entwined in our native
folklore, in the transformation of the land as it cycles through the seasons
and in the animals and plants, clouds and stars which are sending us messages and signs every day.
It was a fairy rainy day in February. The raindrops slammed
onto rooves and hammered on the windows. As I sat watching, hot tea cupped in my hands, words began to flow and form. The first poem I had written since highschool appeared, and I had forgotten how much I enjoyed it. Something in me had awakened and it was about to change everything.
I took to carrying a notepad with me everywhere. I joined online groups and enrolled on courses and workshops. Before I knew it I was speaking at a local literary festival, open mic nights and running courses for the RSPB, WWT and Natural England. You will find my monthly seasonal living guide and newsletter here, Seasonal Joymongering,
along with poetry and stories.
